My husband and I have not long returned from a truely delicious meal at this wonderful gem of a place!! Will most definitly be recommending this Inn to as many of our friends as we can. Cannot praise the food enough and the service was really lovely too.... everyone should go there at least once, am rather sure that once will not be enough:) Thank you for a very wonderful experience.

Would just love to say what a wonderful evening my friends and I had at your beautiful establishment. The staff were friendly attentative and nothing seemed to be too much trouble or phase them. Would also like to say Jackie never seems to stop and neither does the smile on her face or the way she makes everyone feel special and that nothing is too much trouble, long may she remain as she is most certainly the best landlady I have ever met. As for Colin what a wonderful man he again found nothing too much trouble and has a wonderful dry wit about him. So from me and my friends we would once more like to thank you for a great evening, good food and beautiful surrounding.

Just off the A249 at Detling at the edge of the Village, providing a good Country Pub atmosphere with both dining in the bar area or the seperate dining room. I have been there many times for lunch and dinner, or just a drink, and with the easy parking this has always been a favorite of mine.

Every couple of weeks, myself and three other friends go out to lunch. As it was my turn to choose, my choice was The Cock Horse. My friends were delighted at how authentic the place looked and how clean and tidy it was. The staff were lovely and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them.
We're meeting again at the end of next month..... and the only choice is The Cock Horse

Turned up to the most quaint 500 year old pub that truly capitalised on it's age. Had missed the toptable deal, but it meant going for the full menu which was still great value for money. And WOW, was it worth it. I had the garlic bread, scambi and baileys brulee. Wifey had home made steak and ale pie, plus sticky toffee/bannana pudding with 2 jugs of creamy custard. Faultless and will be booking again ASAP. Wonderful service as well. !!

I was well impressed with the service, and the food had good taste to it, cooked well, I will try the evening meal next, I was glad that the fire was put on as it was a bit chilly when i first came in.

Having read the few reviews of the Cock Horse at the time of booking, we were expecting good food, although were open-minded as to what we'd receive for the £7.95, 2 course deal we opted for. What we were not prepared for was the astonishing level of food and the lovely atmosphere of this gem in Detling. The taste and preparation of the courses we had, chicken liver pate, prawn bisque and 2 x steak & ale pies with veg, was nothing short of shocking to us at this price. Highly recommended!!
